Room-temperature Skyrmions at zero field in exchange-biased ultrathin films

For the 8th edition of Let the science talk, we go back to March 2020, when the group led by Prof. Vincent Jacques (Laboratoire Charles Coulomb, University of Montpellier) demonstrated that Skyrmions of about 60 nm could be stabilized at room temperature in exchange-biased ultrathin films without external magnetic fields.

Initially, Skyrmions were observed at low temperatures and in the presence of large magnetic fields. After years of intense research…
